Review of the EU LGBTIQ+ Equality Strategy 2020-2025 and 2026 -2030

This review critically examines the European Union’s LGBTIQ+ Equality Strategies for 2020-2025 and 2026-2030, highlighting their comprehensive, multi-faceted approach to combating discrimination, promoting inclusion, and safeguarding rights. While emphasizing legislative reforms, enforcement, and international advocacy, the strategies face limitations such as over-reliance on legal measures, insufficient grassroots and educational initiatives, inconsistent enforcement across member states, and a neglect of internal, individual transformation. The review underscores the impact of intercultural and migratory dynamics on policy effectiveness and advocates for fostering genuine societal acceptance rooted in internal change, love, and empathy. Ultimately, the article calls for sustained societal engagement and internal transformation as essential complements to external policy measures to achieve authentic equality and social harmony within the EU.
